Conference of June 22, 2023 was created by CONSEILLERNUMERIQUE
On June 22, the city inaugurated a new form of public meeting: "My city, my neighborhood, we're talking about it" with 3 annual meetings led by specialists chosen according to the theme covered.

The theme of the first meeting was water management, led by Ms. James (sociologist) and Mr. Bertoumieux (climatologist). The audience discussed some ideas for reflection.

Its responsible and sustainable management, both collective and individual, is essential to guarantee a viable future for future generations.

Collectively, water management is a challenge that governments, municipalities and environmental organizations must address together.
It is crucial to promote public policies that favor the protection of water resources, the construction of sustainable infrastructure and the adoption of strict regulations.

At this scale, public awareness is essential.
Informing and educating about water issues is a first step towards collective awareness.
Reasonable management of water resources requires well-considered economic, social and environmental choices.
It is thus possible to reduce water consumption in the agricultural, industrial and domestic sectors, by adopting more efficient methods and promoting recycling.

But water management cannot be the sole responsibility of public authorities; it must extend to each individual.
Each of us has a role to play in preserving this vital resource. Simple actions, such as turning off the tap when brushing our teeth, using water-saving equipment, collecting rainwater, or growing water-efficient gardens, can have a significant impact on overall consumption.

It's important to be aware of our individual water footprint—the amount of water we use directly and indirectly for our daily activities. Reducing our water footprint involves making conscious consumption choices, such as choosing local and seasonal products, limiting food waste, or adopting more environmentally friendly consumption habits.

Finally, preserving water resources also involves protecting and rehabilitating aquatic ecosystems. Protecting our rivers, lakes, trees (which help maintain cool areas) and springs is a responsibility that falls to us all, and requires concrete actions such as combating pollution, preserving wetlands, and regulating water withdrawals. In conclusion, collective and individual water management is a key issue in preserving our environment and ensuring a sustainable future. It is a challenge that concerns us all, and requires the mobilization of every actor in society. Let us be agents of change, and make water management a priority for a better future.
Stay tuned for our upcoming editions to learn more about the initiatives we'll be taking to follow up on the ideas discussed, best practices, and innovative solutions for water management. Together, let's preserve our source of life!
The 1st deputy mayor,
Jean-François JUDIT

Among the proposals noted on the evening of the conference:

- Plant more trees along the roads
- Collect rainwater in collectors
- Avoid soil waterproofing to promote the supply of groundwater
- Provide advice, raise awareness among the population about useful actions

In addition to their presentation, our two speakers from the Climatological Association of the Middle Garonne (ACMG) conducted a study of heat islands (HI) and cool islands (COI) in the municipality.

In the WATER, WHAT CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS FOR THE CITY OF TOMORROW? maps of the municipality of Boé that show you the ground temperatures recorded (summer and winter) by comparing the years 2018 and 2023.

A breakdown by neighborhood will allow you to check whether your environment or even your home is adapted to withstand the cold or the heat. On these maps, we measure how much the cool zones are linked to the presence of water and vegetation.
